During pregnancy, you tighten the jacket extension at the top; for babywearing, it stays wide.

Every jacket gets its own adapter. There are longer adapters for long coats.

Jacket extension, jacket extender, babywearing insert, baby insert or jacket insert – they all mean the same thing: an insert that extends your jacket by 25 cm, so it fits over your baby carrier or wrap.

Your winter jacket no longer closes during pregnancy? A maternity or babywearing jacket would be one more jacket for just a few months. With Kumja you keep wearing the favorites you already have. If someone else carries your baby too, a matching adapter for their jacket is all you need.

Kumja zips into your jacket's zipper. Because every jacket has a different zipper, a slim two-part adapter sits in between, on the left and on the right.

You don't need to know anything about zippers. In the selection assistant you answer a few questions about your jacket, ideally while wearing it (so you're less likely to mix up left and right). From your answers we work out the right adapter, and it's added to your order automatically.

For each additional jacket you only need another adapter. Your Kumja stays the same.

If it doesn't fit after all, we'll exchange it free of charge.

Frequently asked questions about Kumja

Meistens ja, denn fast jede Jacke hat einen anderen Reißverschluss. Die Kumja selbst bleibt dieselbe, du brauchst nur je Jacke einen Adapter. In der Schwangerschaft und später beim Tragen ist es derselbe Adapter.

Ob zwei Jacken mit einem Adapter auskommen, kannst du selber testen: Lassen sich die Reißverschlüsse der beiden Jacken auf beiden Seiten miteinander verbinden, reicht ein Adapter für beide. Weitere Adapter bestellst du im Auswahlassistenten unter „Nur Adapter bestellen“.

Ja. Kumja selbst ist immer 70 cm lang. Bei langen Jacken und Mänteln wählen wir längere Adapter, die Kumja weiter nach oben versetzen: Darum fragen wir im Auswahlassistenten die Länge deines Reißverschlusses ab. Gib die gesamte Länge an. Bei einem langen Mantel kannst du die Plus-Option dazu wählen, sodass der Mantel unter der Kumja geschlossen bleibt.

Kumja und Adapter schließen fast nie genau mit deinem Reißverschluss ab. Ist die Jackenerweiterung ein Stück zu lang, schlägst du sie mit vollständig verbundenem Adapter oben einfach um. Ist sie etwas kürzer als dein Reißverschluss, macht das bis etwa 15 cm nichts aus.

Nein, unsere Jackenerweiterung ist immer 70 cm lang und 25 cm breit. Dieser Standard sorgt dafür, dass sie flexibel in allen Jacken verwendbar ist.

Sollte sie mit sehr engen Jacken und großem Kind zu schmal sein, gibt es zusätzliche Verbreiterungen.

Melde dich bei uns mit Fotos, bevor du etwas zurückschickst. Oft lässt es sich schnell klären. Passt der Adapter nur auf einer Seite, hilft häufig unsere Checkliste.

Bleibt es dabei, tauschen wir den Adapter kostenlos gegen den passenden. Den alten behältst du, bis der neue da ist. Rücksendungen innerhalb Deutschlands sind kostenlos. Passt an deine Jacke gar kein Reißverschlussadapter, gibt es den Clipadapter oder den Einnähadapter.

They're not easy to find on the second-hand market, which is why we're warning you up front. You might know the adapter type but still not find a second-hand adapter that's long enough.
